圧力機器が上市される場合、PEDにより、製造業者は、一定の安全情報を含む使用者向けの指示書が添付されることを確保することを求められる。このような情報は必須である。追加の情報は、使用者が求め又は製造業者が推奨し、注文又は契約の一部として合意されることがある。この情報はPEDの要件ではなく、したがって任意である。両方の種類の情報について以下で詳述する。
When pressure equipment is placed on the market, the manufacturer is required by the PED to ensure that it is accompanied by instructions for the user containing certain safety information; such information is mandatory. Additional information may be requested by the user or recommended by the manufacturer, and agreed as part of the order or contract; this information is not a PED requirement and therefore is optional. Both types of information are elaborated below.

The following are required by the PED:
- 3.3a、3.3b及び3.3cによる、CEマーキングに付随する詳細
- Details accompanying the CE mark, per clause 3.3a, 3.3b and 3.3c
- 3.4aによる、取付け、使用開始、使用及び保守のための運転指示書。機器に関連する範囲で次のものを含む。
- Operating instructions for mounting, putting into service, use and maintenance, per clause 3.4a, which include as far as relevant to the equipment:
• 安全な運転限界及び設計の基礎（予想される運転条件及び想定した設計条件、意図された寿命、使用した設計規格、継手効率及び腐れ代を含む。）
• safe operating limits and design basis (includes anticipated operating and assumed design conditions, intended life, design code used, joint coefficients and corrosion allowances)
• 2.2.3b最後のインデントによる、機器の寿命に関連する設計の特徴
• features of the design relevant to the life of the equipment per clause 2.2.3b last indent
• 1.3、3.3c及び3.4cによる、予見可能な誤使用から生じうる、設計又は保護措置により防止されない残留ハザード
• residual hazards not prevented by design or protective measures, that might arise from foreseeable misuse, per clause 1.3, 3.3c, and 3.4c
• 3.4bによる、これらの指示を完全に理解するために必要な技術文書、図面及び図表
• technical documents, drawings and diagrams necessary for a full understanding of these instructions, as per clause 3.4b

圧力機器の組立品が複数の異なるPSを含む場合には、これらの異なるPSを組立品のマーキングに示さないことは許容されるが、例えば運転指示書に添付する組立品の配置図など、その他の適切な手段により示さなければならない。
Where an assembly of pressure equipment includes a number of different PS, it is acceptable not to provide these different PS on the assembly marking but they must be provided by other suitable means for example on an assembly layout diagram accompanying the operating instructions.

3.4aを妨げることなく、PEDが求めないその他の情報、例えばハザード分析、材料試験証明書、詳細な設計計算書、「竣工」図面、熱処理記録、溶接記録、NDT結果、寸法確認の結果、耐圧試験の完全な記録、特別な確認の詳細及び結果、是正のための補修又は改造の詳細、特別採用の完全な文書などを、契約上の合意により含めることができる。
Without prejudice of clause 3.4a, other information, not required by the PED, may be included by contractual agreement, such as: hazard analysis, material test certificates, detailed design calculations, “as built” drawings, heat treatment records, welding records, NDT results, results of dimensional check, full records of proof test, details and results of special checks, details of any corrective repair or modifications, full documentation of any concessions made.
