規格にDNがない場合には、DNは、円形の製品についてはミリメートル単位の内径に、非円形の製品については等価流路断面のミリメートル単位の直径に相当すると仮定しなければならない。
In the absence of DN in the standards, it shall be assumed that DN corresponds to the internal diameter in millimetres for circular products or the diameter in millimetres of the equivalent flow section for non-circular products.
圧力付属品の場合には、この仮定は接続部の直径（通常はDNで表される。）にかかわらず行われる。
In case of pressure accessories this assumption is made regardless of the diameter of the connection (which is usually expressed by DN).
非円形の配管については、既存の断面から比較径を決定しなければならない。この比較径を分類の基礎として用いなければならない。
For non-circular piping a comparative diameter must be determined from the existing cross-section. This comparative diameter must be used as the basis for classification.
