REDは、第1.7節に記述する無線機器を対象とし、2016年6月13日から適用されている。
The RED covers radio equipment as described in section 1.7 and is applicable from 13th June 2016.
加盟国は、指令が対象とする側面に関する理由により、REDに適合する無線機器の自国の領域内での市場での提供を妨げてはならない。
Member States shall not impede, for reasons relating to aspects covered by the Directive, the making available on the market in their territory of radio equipment which complies with the RED.
REDは、それが対象とする側面に関して適用されることに留意する。したがって、無線機器が（環境リスクなどの）その他の側面を規制する別の法令の適用範囲にも含まれ、当該無線機器がその別の法令に適合していない場合には、当該無線機器を禁止することができる（第10節も参照）。
It is noted that RED applies in relation to the aspects it covers. Hence, radio equipment can be prohibited if it falls also within the scope of another legislation, regulating other aspects (such as environmental risks), and that radio equipment is not compliant with that other legislation (see also section 10).
さらに、欧州電子通信コード（EECC）第113条に定めるとおり、加盟国は、デジタル地上ラジオを受信する能力を含め、放送受信機に関する相互運用性の要件を導入することができる。これにもとづき、一部の加盟国は、国レベルでFM専用受信機の販売を禁止している。
In addition, as provided for in Article 113 of the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), Member States may introduce interoperability requirements for broadcast receivers, including the capability to receive digital terrestrial radio. On that basis, some Member States have prohibited the sale of FM-only receivers at national level.
