ノーティファイドボディは、EMCDの下で、指令の適用範囲内の装置についてのみノーティファイドボディとしての業務を行うことができ、指令の適用範囲内の固定設備については、その性質上、業務を行うことはできない。
Notified Bodies can carry out tasks as a Notified Body under the EMCD only for apparatus under the scope of the Directive but not for fixed installations - due to their nature - under the scope of the Directive.
製造業者は、整合規格を適用したか否かにかかわらず、指令第6条の要件に適合するため、自ら又はその認定代理人を通じて、装置の適合性評価手続への関与をノーティファイドボディに要請することができる。適合性評価手続は、指令附属書III（モジュールBに続くモジュールC）に記述されている。
Regardless of whether the manufacturer has applied harmonised standards or not, in order to comply with the requirements of Article 6 of the Directive, he or his authorized representative may request a Notified Body to involve in the conformity assessment procedure of the apparatus. The conformity assessment procedure is described in Annex III of the Directive (Module B, followed by Module C).
